Yesterday we headed up to the col du Gleyzin from the valley de Villards on the Belledonne backside. There was snow from the village (1000 meters) but it was getting very heavy in the sun so we changed direction to the Col de Comberousse. Air was fairly warm but the wind was bitter at times and most of the route was in shadow… except fro the col which was benefiting from the sun shining through the gap between the Puy Gris and Comberousse (at 2pm).

Snow from 2670 - 2400 meters was hard, slabby with a sometimes breakable crust. Not particularly pleasant. We then found pockets of powder, getting better lower down. It was fairly heavy stuff with a small crust in places. The girls were too tired by this stage to ski but the boys were able to rip it up a bit.
