Xynthia, the storm that has devastated much of France over the weekend has caused significant damage to the lift system of Superbagnères in the Pyrenees. A large part of the ski area will not be able to reopen this winter. Only the beginners area was able to open today. There is still doubt as to whether the Gondola between Luchon and Superbagnères can be repaired this season. The winds, gusting up to 210km/h have also damaged a number of cars.
