I recommend visiting Abruzzo - a real hidden gem of Italy, home to three National Parks - the greenest region of Europe - perfect for walks, hikes, treks, cycling, climbing and much more in the heart of unspoilt nature.
This rich, fertile land lies between the Apennine slopes and the waters of the Adriatic. It boasts countless features: a vast range of ski slopes and beaches, nature parks and art towns, medieval churches, castles and museums. Most visitors are drawn to Abruzzo by its parks and beaches, medieval monuments or snow, however, there are other attractions that are equally interesting and increasingly popular: food and wine, crafts, spas, pilgrimage destinations, and sites offering active sports facilities for the young. Whether you are a first time visitor or an old friend, Abruzzo extends a warm invitation to come and explore the thousands of attractions it offers: ancient yet modern, silent yet joyful, and now reached easily by road, rail or air from most parts of Italy and Europe.

A new official English language website has been launched by the region providing information for tourists, tips for trips, up-to-date information about events taking place in the area and an interactive message board: http://www.visitabruzzo.co.uk .

It is very helpful as it offers information about places, events, traditions, National Parks, towns, arts and crafts, nature, culture, history, cycling and hiking routes, gourmet itineraries, castles, churches, architecture, cuisine and wine - everything you may need to know when visiting Abruzzo as a tourist. There is even an interactive community message board where you can ask a question and they will answer you.
