Two backcountry skiers, aged 20 and 21 years were surprised by an avalanche Friday (23 Dec 2011) at noon in the region of Scuol in the Lower Engadine. Buried by the snow, the youngest was found and rescued by his companion with hid avalanche beacon (DVA). He was slightly wounded in the head by the snow probe used to locate him by his friend

The two men were about a hundred meters from the summit of Piz Clune (2793 meters) when the avalanche was triggered, according to the Graubünden cantonal police. The ski tourer immediately alerted to the Rega and both were airlifted to the hospital for a check of Scuol.
