I am going to find myself in Seattle over a long weekend in mid february, can anyone suggest a day tour or two in the area? I’m a pretty strong skier though only a moderate experienced tourist (working on it!) and it’s looking likely I’ll be with a colleague who’s roughly similar.
Cheers,
Dan

Did you try telemarktips.com; there are probably a lot more local skiers there?

People seem to be more into spring touring around Seattle, last year they skied all summer.

There are some routes on skitour.fr (link in French)

<http://www.skitour.fr/sommets/?massif=Cascades+(USA,+Nord-Ouest)>

However you may be able to hook up with some of the skiers via that website.

Dan,

The best website for Washington ski touring information is http://www.turns-all-year.com/
There’s a pretty active section for Partners wanted. Briefly, there are a couple dozen tours at various Snoqualmie Pass areas only about 1.25 hrs east of town.

From the north end of Seattle there are an equal number at Stevens Pass. To the south are backcountry routes near Crystal Mtn resort and the “classic” is touring on Mt Rainier or in the general area.

Right now we’re not having the best snow year - a recent warming period has consolidated the snowpack significantly. That said, there is always something to ski.

I may be able to ski with you or hook you up with some partners. Give me a shout at
rschwartz45 at comcast.net.

Good Luck,Russ
