The French side of the col de Montgenèvre has reopened but the Italian side between Clavière and Cesana looks as if it will remained closed until the 23rd of December according to Italian police. There has been a couple of meters of fresh snow and the avalanche risk is at maximum which is preventing road crews from clearing the route.

Valleys in the Queyras, Nevache and the Alpes Maritimes also remain blocked. The road from Ax les Thermes to Andorra was blocked this morning by an avalanche but reopened before lunchtime. The authorities have warned skiers not to venture off piste in the Pyrenees.

Auron and Isola 2000 are currently blocked by a very large avalanche, no news on when the road into the valley will be open but the operation will take some time.
