The south side of the Maurienne is now open to within 200m of the col (all the other high altitude cols are still shut: Galibier, Iseran, Croix de Fer, Roseland etc...)

Col des Saisies and Col des Aravis are open.

The Poursollet (direction Taillfer) has snow over the last kms.

Barrage du Saut is blocked by a snow barrier at 2045 m, 10 minutes portage to put your skis on from the car.

The route d’Emosson above le Tour is still shut at 1441 meters.

Please update us with any other information you may have.

Col du Glandon is snow free to the col and due to open at the end of this week after stones have been cleared from the road. Earliest opening ever.

The Glandon is still officially closed on the Vaujany side but it was possible to drive to the barrage de la Grande Maison yesterday and possibly to the col du Glandon. On the St Sorlin side the Croix de Fer is open and you can drive as far as the Glandon. On the St Columban side the cornice that overhangs the road will by dynamited on Tuesday/Wednesday and the highways department asks people to stay out of the zone. The opening should be by the start of May.

The Col de la Cayolle above Barcalonette is snow free although not yet officially open; 4 weeks earlier than last year.

Route de Madone de Fenestre is snow free to 1750 meters, about 1km of portage to find snow.

The col de la Cormet de Roselend is open as far as the Col du Méraillet (1600m) you can then cycle to the Plan de la Laie at 1820m. There is a bit of snow still on the road.

An update on the conditions.

Col de Mont Cenis open and the Col de la Croix de Fer will open today officially although it is already clear on both sides. Snow from 2000m for ski touring to the Etendard etc.

Glandon and Madeleine are scheduled to open mid-May (although there is not much snow on either). You can access the Glandon from St Sorlin or le Rivier. I expect an earlier opening. The Galibier is still closed at around 1900m but work on clearing the col is in progress with an opening around mid May.

The col du Petit Saint-Bernard will open on the 20 May 2011.

The Galibier road tunnel has been open since the weekend and the pass should open this week after avalanche control work.

The Iseran should open on the 1st of June, two weeks earlier than usual.
