I’m newish to touring. But last year was spoilt by rental boots, which even with multiple compedes, left me in some pain and took several weeks to heal. I didn’t like the boots, because to me they felt like sking with your boots unclipped. They we okay(ish) going up, just rubbed until raw, but they felt ‘sloppy’ going down.
I know there are new Solomon boots which are all things to all men, and I was contemplating trying them in a shop. But these Garmont might be fine (and somewhat cheaper). I’m UK 9.5 shoe, but I size 9 alpine boot.
Was my experience with hire boots unlucky? I will be touring (day tours) for a week this winter. Would you risk buying these? I would have the chance to ski for a number of days in them (alpine), before my spring touring holiday. I’m a competent downhiller, but only 4 days of touring.
Apologies if this sounds a bit ‘newbish’ - but I welcome any advice.
