Any news about the binding from Ski Trab?

I read on TGR that they won’t work with any existing boots, and will need a new type of boot with a new (none Dynafit) heel fitting.

Agh, that doesn’t sound too good.

The only trab bindings I’ve had in my hand recently are these Dynafit compatible race bindings.

It looks like the heel would work with most/all alpine type boots, what do you think?

The toe piece is interesting, a little heavy perhaps but it was kind of how I would imagine redesigning a Dynafit toe. They have to be careful if they add too much weight though. I’m told that G3 have sold very few (maybe none) of the Onyx in Grenoble. People who are happy with a heavier binding would sooner go for a Diamir or maybe a Marker FT12

or dynafit’s own TLT Vertical FT 12.  I don’t really get the G3 binding at all, a DIN of 10 may be practically enough but for marketing alone it doesn’t fit the urge for burlier bindings. I can’t imagine anyone in Chamonix or on the internet skis on less than DIN 12

Then it’s safer on the internet because that’s the only place where blocked DIN 12 doesn’t lead to hospital wink

grin I must check what DIN I use on the Wii.

Seriously though, do people generally go touring with the DIN set higher than they would if skiing on piste. I can understand the need in some situations to make certain that a ski does not release.
