On the 8th of January, 2008 Chamonix town hall and Recco are organizing a conference to discuss the advances concerning security with respect to the snow pack. Snow pros, councillers and other concerned bodies will talk about advances in technology, training, information. The afternoon will be spent on the ground at Grands Montents.

Recco have equipped their new avalanche victim detectors with an avalanche receiver enabling rescue workers to pick up signals from Recco reflectors, electronic equipment and avalanche beacons.

I found details here - places are limited to 50 persons and you must register by Jan 16 (and of course you should speak French to be able to understand the training wink Sounds like a really good deal if you can get a place.
