I’m looking for a full AT setup for a friend and possibly boots for myself. First, could anyone recommend a good shop in these parts? Second, is there any used gear out there? Or another good site to find used gear in France?

As for shops, the best is skialp: http://www.skialp.fr/ in Crolles and Barthelemy http://www.barthelemyski.fr/ in the town center next to the Prefecture. There is also Espace Montagne next to IKEA on the ring road. They can be a bit pricey but will match other shop’s prices if you ask. I recently got some ski goggles from Espace Montagne and got some very good advice, their new store is worth a visit anyway.

If you are going touring please make sure you have safety equipment. It is essential to take a transceiver, shovel and probe.  This is in case you are caught in an avalanche, your friends can rescue you.
