In the Hautes Alpes the following mountain passes are now closed to traffic for the duration: Agnel, l’Echelle, Galibier and Izoard. The col du Lautaret is closed to HGVs.

Looks like we may see some touring on the Agnel this weekend but remember that it is the scene of avalanche deaths each winter at the start of the ski season.

In the Savoie the following cols are closed: Glandon and Croix de Fer. Madeleine, Iseran, Cormet de Roselend, Petit St Bernard.

There are road works and detours until the 11 December 2009 in the Gorges d’Arly.

It’s inspiring to think of the passes closing due to snow.

Though I’ve been doing lots of fun skiing on asphalt these last few weeks, so I’m of mixed feelings thinking of nice smooth asphalt getting covered over.
Looks like Mont Ventoux has a touch of snow on the summit:

Looks like with some help from sunshine the road will still be skate-able in a couple of weeks.
