Hi,
I’ll be studying in Grenoble (Grenoble 3), starting in January of 2010. I was wondering if there are deals for passes for any or for multiple mountains in the region, and whether I need to buy anything before I get over there. Specifically interested in La Grave, Deux Alpes, maybe Alpe d’Huez? Or other suggestions…

Thanks

For Grenoble you will probably want to link up with the Grenoble University Club, more commonly known as the GUC. They do day trips to various ski areas and have a cheap deal on transport + lift ticket. There is a similar thing for ski touring, climbing etc called the GUM.

The Ecole du Glisse also has some interesting offers

You need to be organized in France and book early.

A lot of students ski at les 7 laux, there are only 120km of runs but some good off piste too. The season pass is 300 euros. There is snow on the slopes now.

The local bus service also do bus+lift pass deals

You need to really inquire at their office in Place Dr. Martin when you get here.

You’ll find Grenoble very international with lots of good bars and pubs and great sporting possibilities if you want to make use of them.
