TipsForEditing

This site is a WikiWikiWeb -- a collaborative authoring system that allows multiple people to edit a common set of pages via the World Wide Web.

If you are registered with PisteHors you can edit almost any page by simply clicking on the Edit Page link in the left menu, and then modify the text in any way you want. Yes, you can even edit pages others have created--that's part of WikiNature?. We do not allow anonymous edits to reduce WikiSpam.

Adding a new route

Most people who edit this site will want to add a new route or comment on an existing route. To add a new route select the country -> area or mountain range concerned then edit this page to add a link to the new route. For example to add the "Sentier du Facteur" (Postman's track) to the Chartreuse simple include a line

[[Sentier du Facteur]]

in the file and save it. Clicking on the generated link will open a new page and part fill the page with a template. You should add a free text description of the route. Then complete the table shown by the:

All user entries go in the right pair of vertical bars. Do not leave any space on the left but leave a single space before the last pair of vertical bars.

Read up on the five level Mountain-Bike-Gradings. This route is Hard. You can email a GPS track and waypoints in the Google Keyhole Markup Language (KML) or zipped in your own GPS format for inclusion in our Google-Earth database. Photos can also be submitted by email. We resize all photos to 320x240 pixels to save bandwidth.

For the author field you can enter your own name or put four tilde [[~davidof]] June 30, 2006, at 03:49 PM characters in a row. The software will replace this with your user id and the date when you save the file. You can include a link to an external website, for example to your own homepage where you have more information on the route.

The Comments section lets you comment on an exisiting route, either to enter your own trip report or to point out some change or danger.
