Description

Choice was between ski touring, skating or staying in bed... or doing some work. The avalanche bulletin wasn't encouraging for ski touring. It rained to 2000m on Monday and they promised icy conditions early on with spring snow later. Unfortunately I was busy later so chose to do some skating up at the Domaine de Bedina. Same pistes open as in January. The black was closed and unpisted due to avalanche risk and the red was unpisted with old frozen tracks. It wasn't fun to ski.

Going was hard at 9.30am when I arrived with quick descents. The sun softened the loop I was on after 10 and it was quite good by the time I left at 10h40. I took the Pre de l'Arc blue 3 times. Lots of ice around the place in the ski area, you have to be careful where you walk and drive. There was about 2cm of fresh snow at the level of the ski area on Tuesday morning but this did little to hide ice on places like steps.

Weather: Sunny, warm (15C in the valley at midday)

Access: Clear to resort, ice on road to X-country parking

Country: France Area: Belledonne Trailhead: Prapoutel
