Ski Touring (20)
Morning ski tour between the rain to the Oursière
There was a bit of a weather window this morning. Unfortunately I was a bit late and missed the best conditions before 10am.There is still snow at the bottom of the pistes at Pipay.
Dent d'Arclusaz from Epernay
From Epernay follow the road that climbs to the south-east, then zig-zags to the south.
Grand Rocher Laps
Good conditions in the Belledonne for the end of November. I had to break trail from the Barioz parking to the summit, not that hard in the 20cm of fresh snow. There is no base below 1500 meters.
Scia NW Couloir
Follow the trail to the habert d'Aiguebelle (refuge, renovated in 2008 but closed).
Le Grand Rocher
The Cross country ski area had opened over the weekend and the pistes had been prepared but was closed today. The zero-iso was around 1700 m on Sunday coupled with rain.
A col du Baure from home. It is only possible every 2 or 3 years and you have to seize the day.
Coming of age
21 years since I first toured to this iconic summit in the Belledonne range. The gear has certainly evolved in that time...
Cime de la Valette de Prals from Fenestre
Climb the road towards la Madone de Fenestre to the Vacheries de Devanse, just after (WP 353) take a walking trail that climbs to the SE through the woods to the Plan de Prals.
Col de Comberousse by the Gleyzin valley
The large Gleyzin valley is clearly visible from the valley as far as Chambery. It keeps snow cover late and is skiable into May with a reasonable amount of portage (a mountain bike can help).
Trainer Couloirs of the Jas de Lievres
At the southern end of the ski resort of Prapoutel - Les 7 Laux the Jas des Lièvres and the Combe de Bedina have been spared ski lifts and only off piste skiers using the Lac drag lift disturb the pea
