Nordic Skiing (98)
Training Day #3
Third week of training with the SNC. Today we were focussed on transitioning from v1 to v2 and back again. I was trying longer poles, I've gone up from 155 to 162.
First Sappey of 2019
It has been a long time coming but the nearest ski area to work (about a quarter of an hour drive) has finally opened and with good initial conditions.
La Foulée Blanche
A year later I was back in Autrans and this time to ski the Foulée Blanche but with more realistic ambitions - the 20km race.
Col de Porte: Training Day 2
Second weekend of training with the SNC.
Fresh snow at the Col de Porte
Skating in fresh powder seems to be a regular thing this January and it is character building to say the least.
Training morning with the SN Chartrousin then a climb to the Bergeries of the Charmant Som to warm up (climb took a reasonable 37m56 and the descent a speedy 7m17)
Beldina Powder Session
Route: Tour du Pre de l'Arc x 1, Myrtilles x 3
Bergeries du Charmant Som
The top of the Charmant Som plateau had been pisted to make up for the lack of trails lower down. A real treat to do a couple of loops in pleasant conditions although we do the same crust skiing.
Skating to the Crêt Luisard
I knew there was a lack of snow. All the lower runs are shut. The skating was pretty good. A lot of people on foot, some stomping on the ski runs, doh! Not too many other skiers.
Tour of Autrans
Without having a good idea of where I was going, I should have grabbed a piste map, I set out across the plane before climbing to Geve then beyond.
