Mountain Biking: Coteau de la Terrasse

Fri, 1 April 2011

Technical

Distance: 26 km

Trip Reports

Vertical Climbed: 300 meters (984 feet)

Description

Decided to give skiing a rest due to the poor refreezes over the last couple of days and get the MTB out for a 28km route starting at the house and going down the Gresivaudan valley towards la Terrace and la Frette. The route goes past a number of chateau or fortified houses such as The Chateau de Bernis in Crolles. It is an old fortified house dating from the 14th century and modernised in the 18th.

The route then headed down and along the Isere river to la Terrace. on a very good and well drained track. At la Terrace you cut by the riding school where you have a great view of the village church and waterfall behind. The route joins the potholed Chemin de l’Empereur before heading up to la Frette and one of the steepest tarmac roads I've ridden. I wonder what it is like in winter? We then head back along the "banks" of the valley at 350 meters past the waterfalls of la Gorge we saw earlier.

Weather: Warm, light cloud

Country: France Area: Chartreuse Trailhead: Crolles

Conditions

Some mud between Haute Frette and la Terrace otherwise dry.
