Description

I had a limited amount of time so started higher up than yesterday at les Meunieres. I took the fields finding a gap at the top of the first field, it is quite a good plan. I didn't climb Pravouta as I was concerned about the amount of snow on the face but toured around the west side. In fact the climb from the Col des Ayes was snow free due to the wind and probably a safer plan as I had to cross a couple of small slopes with accumulations.

At the Roc d'Arguillle I met Claire and Yannick. Yannick needed a screw driver to tighten his bindings, I was unable to help and a reminder to take tools. It was nice to ski down with them and they were very friendly. The snow was windblown on the tops but heavy powder lower down on a humid base. A reminder that we are heading into spring. I left Claire and Yannick at the foot of the mountain and began the long climb up to the Col des Ayes - some 600 vertical meters which I dispatched in under an hour. I took the road back to the top of the fields, tired legs. At the 1220m parking I spoke to 3 guys who'd just skied la Gorgette, impressive.
