Description

Starting from le Sappey seemed like a good idea. It is only 250 meters under the normal drag lift trailhead but adds a considerable amount of horizontal distance. The traverse under the Chamchaude was complicated. The summer trail had 50cm of fresh snow and it was very difficult to stick to the route due to the trees across the path. Navigating around the trees was not easy as the fresh snow wasn't sticking well to the hard base. Had to break trail to the Bachassons cabin. Took the Pas de Lapins skiing down, this was completely skiable. Then I traversed back on my tracks to the Roche Rousse rather than skiing down to pick up the forest trail. The route was a lot longer than I expected.

Route Taken: Climbed via roche Rousse.

Weather: Sun, some clouds

Access: Clear to village, village roads have 5-10cm of snow.
