Girose Glacier

A number of couloirs are accessible from the top of the Girose drag lift. From left to right down the mountain the principle routes are the Maison Neuve, Chirouze, Girose and Orcières. All of them are serious propositions in terms of mountain skills and route finding. One or two lengths of rope may be required on certain to overcome cliffs, rimayes and icefalls. The routes at the bottom of the glacier are also threatened by sérac fall. Return is by taxi from a bridge crossing the Romanche just after the road tunnel (1320 meters).
