Bois des freaux

The Freaux couloir is found just after the Evariste Chancel refuge. It cuts through the Bois des Freaux. The Freaux forest hides a number of cliff bands and should be treated with caution. These long, north facing clearings through the woods above la Grave are swept by avalanches. Care should be taken after fresh snowfall as they concentrate slides from above. Avalanche debris is also very difficult to ski.
