  2. Grand Bornand Off Piste

There are numerous ooportunities for ski touring when based in Le Grand Bornand. From Le Chinaillon (the upper village) above the western side of the valley are several excellent itineraries. Le Roc du Tours, Le Aiguille Vert, Le Col de Rasoir and above Le Col du Collombier all offer accents between 800 to 1200 meters. The descent either returing down into Le Chinaillon Valley or going down the western side into the Bornes Valley, arriving around Le Petit Bornand.

Due north of the Maroly Valley there are also tours to be done up L'Almet peak.

The other main attraction of the region is its access to the main Aravis chain. This can be done either by taking the chairlift up to the tete des Annes (1800m) and then skinning/climbing up towards Point Percee and the various Aravis cols. Althernatively, you can start from the bottom of the Lormay valley from Les Troncs (1100m) and climb up into the Aravis from there.

If you want to avoid climbing, there also some excellent off piste opportunities from within the resort: from the top of Le Lachat down into the Lormay valley; from the top of Le Chatillon drag lift down into Grand Bornand Village; from the top the tete des Anns down under the telesiege; from the top of L'Amet drag lift down into the col des Annes.

As always, 1st time round it is best to take a guide

Enjoy!
