Meteo France has issued an avalanche warning for the mountains from the Isere to Mediterranean sea and for the Pyrenees for Saturday with a significant risk of natural avalanches in the morning and large fresh slabs in place, especially at altitude. The warning has been echoed by the Isere prefecture who have called for prudence by snow shoers and skiers who leave secured and open trails.
The recent snow has been accompanied by strong winds from the South-West and North which has created large accumulations. In the Pyrenees Meteo France has warned skiers of all steep slopes. It has snowed 40 to 60 cm in the last few days.
