Long search for missing skier may reach closure

Closure may closure to hand in the long search for a missing ski tourer. Theodor left on his own for the Tarentaise on the weekend of the 2nd of March. He used his credit card at 6h50 at the Albertville toll-booth. He was driving a white Toyota Yaris with the plate AN-054-VX. Since then there has been no trace of the 38 year old man.

After nearly two months his Yaris was found yesterday evening parked on the Bourg St Maurice - Val d'Isere road (RD902) at the Pigettes avalanche protection tunnel at the start of the ski tour that leads to Chenal and the St Foy Backcountry. Friends think he may have taken the trail to Fenil then the barrage du Clou then to the Col du Lac Noir (2869m) or to the Pointe de la Foglietta.

Chenal, Savoie

A Search and Rescue helicopter is planning to fly the route today if conditions permit. There may be no quick answers. A lot of snow has fallen since then. In the Mercantour the remains of a walker missing in August 2011 were only discovered some 8 months later and the body of Soueï Puechavy, missing since December 2011 was found by forest wardens in October 2012.

Did Theodor get caught by an avalanche or fall? If you were skiing in St Foy did you cross a lone skier on the 2nd March?
